Political enimity: KSU student deliberately failed in Palakkad Victoria College

Palakkad (Kerala), July 1 (UNI) In another shocking incident of academic victimization due to political enmity, a final semester BSc Psychology student of Government Victoria College, Palakkad, who had secured high marks in all other subjects, was deliberately failed in the project evaluation.
According to a complaint submitted by the Save University Campaign Committee to the Kerala Governor and the Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University, the project marks of College KSU unit president Jamsheeya Sherin were intentionally reduced by her teacher in collusion with SFI leaders.
Research projects are completed under the supervision of teachers, and generally, all teachers award at least the minimum pass marks for projects. As per examination regulations, there is no provision for the revaluation of project marks.
Jamsheeya Sherin, who passed all her theory papers, was specifically targeted and failed in the project evaluation.
Demanding a fair investigation, she filed a formal complaint with the Vice-Chancellor, who forwarded it to the Controller of Examinations and directed the Chairman of the Board of Examinations to submit a report.
Based on this directive, the examination office asked the Board Chairman to conduct a re-evaluation of the project and verify whether there were any irregularities in awarding the marks.
After the review, the Chairman of the Examination Board confirmed that the student indeed deserved higher marks in the project. The Board recommended that the revised marks be awarded as the final marks. Consequently, the student was declared passed in the examination.
However, despite the clear findings, no action has yet been taken against the teacher who deliberately failed the student, the complaint said.
The Save University Campaign Committee alleges that academic victimization is being carried out against students who oppose the SFI on various campuses. The committee claims that teachers and certain university officials supportive of SFI are involved in such unfair practices.
It also alleged that SFI leaders in Palakkad district were directly involved in the conspiracy to reduce the marks of the student, who is an active KSU leader.
The Committee has demanded that the university take exemplary disciplinary action against the teacher who failed the student for political reasons.
The Committee stated that the practice of deliberately failing students who do not bow to SFI’s influence cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
