Ponnam slams BRS, urges unity for Telangana’s interests at Congress district meet

Hyderabad, June 29 (UNI) Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly criticised the previous BRS government, accusing it of autocratic rule and financial mismanagement, and called

for united efforts to safeguard Telangana’s interests.

He was addressing the Hyderabad District Congress leaders' meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday.

“The Telangana People’s Administration Government has brought an end to ten years of tyrannical rule. Those who once ruled with arrogance are now cursing a democratically elected government to collapse within a month,” Ponnam alleged, targeting BRS leaders for attempting to destabilise the current administration.

Referring to recent protests, the Minister said, “They are trying to provoke government employees, who are the pillars of democracy and are committed to solving public problems and implementing welfare schemes.”

Highlighting the economic constraints faced by the current government, he said, “Despite the financial crisis, our government is focused on people's welfare. Unlike the previous regime, which left the state in debt, we are moving forward with inclusive governance.”

Ponnam also criticised the opposition for acting irresponsibly, stating, “They have abandoned the role of a constructive opposition and are instead acting like adversaries of their own state.

He asserted that the people of Telangana have seen through their actions, which is why they were given "zero seats" in the recent elections. “Soon, the people will forget them completely,” he remarked.

PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud also attended the meeting. Later, Ponnam Prabhakar took part in

a preparatory meeting ahead of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit to Hyderabad on July 4.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mahesh Kumar Goud will guide the party leadership on making the event a grand success, party sources said.
