New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing unrest in Manipur, accusing him of turning a blind eye to the violence and suffering in the state.

On her social media handle X, the Wayanad MP said, “Manipur is once again in the grip of violence. For nearly two years, the people of the state have been facing violence, murder, rape, and displacement. Hundreds have died, and thousands have been rendered homeless. What is the reason that, despite being under central rule, peace has still not been restored there?”

She also questioned the Prime Minister’s "silence and inaction", saying, “Why has the Prime Minister left Manipur to its fate? Till now, he has neither visited the state, nor met any representative from there, nor made any appeal for peace, nor taken any concrete step. This insensitivity and irresponsible attitude is extremely unfortunate for any democracy.”

She added, “It is the Prime Minister’s responsibility to ensure peace and security for the citizens of the country. To withdraw from this is to turn away from one’s duty.”
