Psycho killer of truck drivers shot dead by UP police

Baghpat, June 30 (UNI) Special Task Force (STF) and district police have shot dead a 'psycho killer of truck drivers, Sandeep Lohar, in an encounter here on Sunday night.

UP police had earlier announced a reward of Rs one lakh on the serial killer.

ADG (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash confirmed on Monday that the encounter took place near the Mavikalan area along the Yamuna River in the Baghpat district.

He said the deceased criminal, who hails from Bhaini Maharaj village in the Rohtak district of Haryana, used to kill and rob the truck drivers on the highway.

Police said Sandeep looted a truck filled with nickel plate worth Rs 4 crore in the Panki area of ​​Kanpur on the night of May 15 last year, and since then, he has been absconding, and a reward of Rs one lakh was declared for him.

Baghpat SP Suraj Kumar Rai said that the STF and the police team reached the Yamuna riverbank, where the miscreant Sandeep fired on the policemen. In retaliatory firing, Sandeep was shot in the leg and chest, killing him on the spot.

A pistol, bike, and cartridges used by the criminal were recovered from the spot.

STF personnel Sunil Kumar was also injured in this encounter andhas been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

There are a total of 16 cases against Sandeep in Haryana and UP, out of which four are for murder. He used to rob the truck drivers and brutally kill them, due to which the police used to call him 'psycho killer.'
