Punjab: 20-year-old youth shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants

Hoshiarpur, June 19 (UNI) A 20-year-old youth was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants near Shahpur Ghata village in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district late last night, police said today.
SP (Inv) Hoshiarpur Mukesh Kumar said the deceased, Aryan of Sehwan village under Garhshankar police station limits, was returning from Ludhiana along with his relative Naveen Kumar (27) of Kokowal Mazari village. Both were travelling in a Swift car after purchasing garments for their shop located at Adda Binewal, he said.
When they reached near Shahpur Ghata, they stopped the car and Naveen got out and began vomiting on the roadside. Suddenly, three masked men on a motorcycle appeared and opened fire on Aryan, who was sitting inside the car, hitting him on the head and chest. He died on the spot, the officer said. The assailants fled immediately after the attack.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Garhshankar for post-mortem.
SP Kumar said that an FIR had been registered regarding the incident at Garhshankar police station and further investigation was underway.
