PVN Madhav assumes charge as BJP State president

Vijayawada, July 1 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Pokala Vamshi Nagendra Madhav, known as PVN Madhav, assumed charge as Andhra Pradesh State BJP president here on Tuesday.

He was elected State president unopposed as he was the only leader who filed nomination for the post. Election observer, BJP National Council member Mohan declared Madhav elected as BJP AP state president unopposed. Till now Madhav was working as State General Secretary of the BJP. He was also BJP Floor Leader in the AP Legislative Council earlier.

Madhav has come from a BJP family as his father, late PV Chalapthi Rao was the two time MLC and served the party for several decades in the combined AP State. The newly elected Madhav was also RSS Karyavahak of Visakhapatnam city.

Speaking on the occasion, Madhav thanked the BJP central leadership and the State leadership for giving an opportunity to work as State president and pledged to do justice to the post and serve better to the party.

He vowed to work to bolster the BJP in AP. He highlighted that it is coincide that he became the BJP party president when the RSS is celebrating its centenary while 50 years of imposing Emergency was being commemorated. Mr.Madhav recalled that he was born during the emergency days and he was in the police station, along with his mother in those days.
BJP in AP has become strong under the leadership of MP D Purandeswari, who worked as State president for two years, he revealed.

Hyderabad, July 1 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today fired a salvo at former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, accusing them of playing ‘spoilsport’ in the protection of Telangana state interests in the utilisation of river Godavari and Krishna waters.
Participating in the powerpoint representation on the Banakacharla Project at Praja Bhavan here, Revanth Reddy accused KCR of being responsible for the present crisis in water sharing between AP and Telangana state.
