Moscow, June 13 (UNI) Russia has expressed concerns regarding the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict and has criticised the sharp escalation in tensions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
At the instruction of President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Foreign Ministry will soon issue a detailed statement on the situation between Israel and Iran, Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"By order of the head of state, the Foreign Ministry will release a detailed statement in the very near future, which will then be distributed at the United Nations," he said, reports Sputnik.
Putin is also said to be receiving real-time updates on developments between the two countries, Peskov added.
"President Putin is receiving real-time reports on regional events via the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Condemning the Israeli strikes as a violation of the UN charter and international law, the Russian Foreign Ministry said "We express our utmost concern over the dangerous escalation of tensions in the Middle East. We strongly condemn Israel's forceful campaign which violates the UN Charter and norms of international law.”
"Unprovoked military strikes against a sovereign UN member state, its citizens, sleeping peaceful cities, and nuclear infrastructure facilities are totally unacceptable. The international community cannot afford to treat this kind of atrocities indifferently, as they destroy the world and jeopardize regional and international security," the Ministry added, as per TASS.
