SC hears Shiv Sena election symbol case, fixes next hearing for July 30

New Delhi / Mumbai, May 15 (UNI) The Supreme Court today heard the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s election symbol case after the hearing was postponed several times earlier and warned the party's lawyer to desist his client (Uddhav Thackeray) from making any statements to the media.
Friday's hearing was held after the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena requested the Supreme Court for a hearing as soon as possible since its petition has been pending for the last three years.
After the Shiv Sena split into two parties, the Central Election Commission ruled that the real Shiv Sena is the Eknath Shinde-led party and alloted the undivided Sena's bow and arrow election symbol to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and also allowed Shinde's party to call itself the Shiv Sena.
