SC verdict on Miyapur lands a major victory for Telangana Govt: CM Revanth Reddy

New Delhi/ Hyderabad, Oct 30 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict declaring the disputed Miyapur lands as government property, describing it as a major victory in the fight to protect public assets.
He said the lands, estimated by the government at around RS 50,000 crore, would be protected and their sale proceeds utilised for development, particularly in education, irrigation and healthcare.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, the Chief Minister thanked the Supreme Court and alleged that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, his family members and BRS leaders had attempted to grab valuable government lands in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. He accused KCR and his associates of conspiring to take over the Miyapur lands and alleged that luxury cars and cash were offered as bribes in connection with the deal.
Revanth Reddy said his government had presented a strong legal case to protect the Miyapur property and directed officials to take necessary steps to safeguard the lands following the Supreme Court verdict. The Chief Minister alleged that he had faced political vendetta and imprisonment for opposing land-grabbing activities during his tenure as MLA, MP and TPCC president.
Claiming that his government had protected government lands worth nearly RS 1.50 lakh crore in the past three years, he cited several cases, including the IMG lands, Kancha Gachibowli, Mamidipalli, Gurranguda forest lands, 143 acres in Manchirevula and 400 acres of forest land in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
He said a Cabinet sub-committee on resource mobilisation was examining the possibility of monetising government lands and utilising the proceeds for development projects. The funds generated from the Miyapur lands would particularly be directed towards strengthening the education sector, he added.
The Chief Minister also accused BRS leaders of obstructing government officials from conducting surveys of lands allegedly encroached. Referring to Harish Rao, he alleged that he was preventing officials from surveying lands linked to his uncle Hanumantha Rao and had approached the court to obtain a stay.
Questioning the silence of BRS leaders following the Supreme Court verdict, Revanth Reddy challenged KCR and other party leaders to come to the Legislative Assembly and discuss the alleged land encroachments. He also accused the previous BRS government of entering into understandings with private parties instead of pursuing pending land-related cases.
He called upon KCR and KTR to stop land-related controversies, stating that the government would continue its efforts to protect public properties and that courts were delivering verdicts in favour of safeguarding government lands.
