Jammu, May 24 (UNI) The search operation to hunt down terrorists on Saturday entered the second day following gunfight between security forces and terrorists in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir.
One Army soldier was martyred on Thursday when the exchange of fire erupted between security forces and terrorists in Singhpura area of Chatroo.
"A massive search operation is being carried out by joint team of security forces as no fresh exchange of firing took place with terrorists," said an official.
He said the firing stopped on Thursday evening and no exchange of fire took place thereafter," he said.
They stated that search operation launched jointly by SOG of J&K Police, Army and paramilitary forces to track down the terrorists hiding in the dense forest area is underway for the second consecutive day.
"Additional troops have been inducted, and operation is ongoing to neutralize the terrorists," said official.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat also visited the Singhpora-Chatroo area where a major anti-terrorists operation is currently underway.
The DGP personally visited the dense forests and mountainous terrain, encouraged the deployed personnel, and issued directions to ensure that all terrorists involved are dealt strictly and brought to justice.
DGP Prabhat lauded the synergy among all security agencies and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintaining peace and order in the region through sustained and focused operations.
