Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Friday surged 769.09 pts to close positive, regaining 81K level at 81,721.08 following gains in FMCG, Power, Utilities and Financial services stocks amid positive Asian Market.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) jumped 243.45 pts at 24,853.15.
Slumping over 600 pts in Thursday, the BSE Sensex opened weak at 80,897, easing 54 pts. It immediately bounced back and posted a massive gains of 954 pts at 81,905.17, days high, before closing at 81,721.08, advancing 769.09 pts from its previous close.
In stocks like FMCG, Power, Utilities and Financial services lifted the market today. The equity market rallied despite weak US and European market.
These gains are restricted following concern around foreign inflow, even disappointing fiscal outlook of US too dampened the sentiments of investors.
All stocks were in green, especially FMCG, Power, Utilities rose more than 1 per cent.
FMCG moved up by 1.49 pc, Power by 1.01 pc, Utilities by 1.02 pc and Financial services by 0.99 pc.
The Nifty registered days high at 24,909.05 and low at 24,614.05 pts.
The Mid cap moved up 0.50 pc and Small cap rose by 0.45 pc.
In 30 scrips, 28 advanced while 2 declined.
The gainers were Eternal by 3.51 pc to Rs 237.25, Powergrid by 2.51 pc to Rs 298.30, ITC by 2.32 pc to Rs 436, Bajaj Finserv by 2.09 pc to Rs 2041.70 and Nestle India Ltd by 1.83 pc to Rs 2406.10.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 1.84 pc to Rs 1688.30 and Bharti Airtel by 0.19 pc to Rs 1828.25.
In Asian Market, Strait Times was up 0.06 pc, Hang Seng by 0.24 pc and Set Composite by 0.25 pc while Taiwan Weighted fell 0.09 pc.
