Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday crashed 693 pts to open at 79,948.80 following geographical tension between India and Pakistan, as India hit 9 terror bases in Pakistan last night.
Heavy selling was seen in Energy, FMCG and Oil and Gas stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 146 pts at 24,233.30 pts.
The BSE Sensex registered an intraday high at 80,587.21 and an intraday low at 79,937.48, respectively.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 24,381 and a low at 24,220 pts.
The mid cap rose 0.18 pc, while the small cap rose 0.31 pc.
In 30 scrips, 11 advanced while 19 declined.
The losers were HCL Technologies, down 1.35 pc to Rs 1557.75, Power by 1.32 pc to Rs 2386.05, Hind Unilever, down 0.91 pc to Rs 2359.75 and Sun Pharma, down 0.79 pc to Rs 1804.35.
The gainers were Tata Motors by 3.91 pc to Rs 673.15, Powergrid by 0.45 pc to Rs 309.10, HDFC Bank by 0.45 pc to Rs 1939.20 and SBI by 0.53 pc to Rs 778.25.
