Seoul, May 22 (UNI) A serious accident occurred in North Korea during the launch of a destroyer at the Chongjin Shipyard, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
According to the report, because of the "inexperienced command" and "operational carelessness", the stern's launch slide departed first and stranded while the flatcar failed to move in parallel.
It said certain sections of the bottom of the warship crushed destroying the destroyer's balance and the bow was unable to leave the shipway.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un watched the failed launch and said it was a "criminal act caused by absolute carelessness, irresponsibility and unscientific empiricism."
Kim said the warship's restoration must be completed "unconditionally before the June Plenary Meeting of the WPK Central Committee."
