Sharon Osbourne admits that ‘The Osbournes’ popularity got too much as it ‘wasn’t the real world’

London/Los Angeles, May 17 (UNI) Sharon Osbourne discussing the massive success of her 2000s reality TV show ‘The Osbournes’, admitted that the show’s incredible popularity got too much, so much so that even metal world’s first family began to feel uncomfortable, as it “wasn’t the real world.”
Speaking to Metal Hammer, the entrepreneur said “It was something that we could all do as a family. Apart from my eldest daughter (Aimee), who didn’t want to be a part of it. It was a great experience, but it had to end. It was something that you couldn’t keep going on and on and on because it wasn’t the real world, you know?
“It’s the b*******world where people you don’t even know will invite you to Russia for a party and fly you there, and they want to show you off that you came to their party in Russia," she explained when asked why the show didn't feel like the real world.
“I mean, we got invited to the White House. It’s like, ‘Why the f*** do you want to talk to us? It’s nice for you to invite us, but what the f*** do you want to talk to us about?’ It’s not the real world. It was time to get back to reality.”
The reality-TV show showcased the domestic life of Black Sabbath singer and heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne and his family. The show was unexpectedly popular, though was heavily criticised by audiences and critics alike for its many absurd antics.
The show documented many events in the family, chief being Sharon Osbourne’ cancer diagnosis in 2002 and her subsequent recovery.
The 72-year-old when asked on why she continued filming despite her diagnosis said “Because I didn’t want my kids and my husband to know how sick I was. When you say ‘cancer’, everybody always thinks ‘death’. And you’ve got to remember it was 23 years ago.
“At that point, cancer wasn’t the same as it is now. So everybody always thought it was a death sentence and I didn’t want my kids to have fear constantly surrounding them. I didn’t want it. And I thought, ‘F*** it.’”
Ozzy Osbourne is currently set to play his final show, reuniting with Black Sabbath’s original lineup for their ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert in Birmingham on July 5.
The show will also feature various other hard rock and metal giants such as Metallica, Tool, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Sleep Token, Guns N Roses, Gojira, Pantera, Sammy Hagar, Soundgarden, Anthrax, Billy Corgan, Halestorm, and Mastodon among others.
