Sikkim Foundation Day :Telangana Guv lauds Sikkim as a shining jewel of Northeast

Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, on Friday, lauded Sikkim as a shining jewel of the Northeast, celebrated for its natural beauty, pioneering organic farming, and the harmonious coexistence of diverse communities.
In his address after paying tribute to the historic occasion marking Sikkim’s statehood on May 16, 1975, he commended the state’s rich cultural and ecological heritage at the Sikkim Foundation Day celebrations held at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor highlighted the spiritual and cultural depth of Sikkim, underscoring its monasteries, festivals, and biodiversity as sources of national pride.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds of unity and cultural exchange between Telangana and Sikkim.
Prior to the commencement of the program, a one-minute silence was observed in solemn tribute to the brave soldiers martyred during Operation Sindoor, as well as the civilians who lost their lives in the terror attack on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam, Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The event was attended by M. Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary to the Governor, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, and enthusiastic members of the Sikkimese community residing in Hyderabad.
