Sindhu, Lakshya Sen to lead India’s charge at Hylo Open in Germany

Berlin, Oct 26 (UNI) Fresh off her runners-up finish in France last week, PV Sindhu will look to
go one step further when she spearheads India’s campaign at the Hylo Open 2026 badminton tournament in Germany, starting on Tuesday.

World No. 11 and second seed Sindhu will aim to build on her runners-up finish at France last week after losing in the final against reigning Olympic and world champion An Se-young of the Republic of Korea, according to olympics.com.
Two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu has been in good form in the BWF World Tour this year.
Before her runner-up finish at the French Open last week, she reached the semis of the Malaysia Open in January and the Australian Badminton Open in June and clinched the Japan Open title in July.
Sindhu will be joined in the women’s singles draw by compatriots Ashmita Chaliha, Devika Sihag, Isharani Baruah, Aakarshi Kashyap, Anmol Kharb, Malvika Bansod and Unnati Hooda.
Ashmita, who won the Korea Masters this year, pulled off the biggest win of her career in France last Thursday by knocking out three-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the second round.
Meanwhile, Devika Sihag has been handed a tough opening round match against top seed and world No. 8 Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand. In the men’s singles draw, Lakshya Sen - who won the tournament in 2019 - will lead India’s charge.
The Indian badminton player, who conceded an opening-round walkover in Paris last week, has had a challenging season that’s seen him exit in the first round in six of his last seven tournaments on the BWF World Tour this year.
Lakshya Sen will be accompanied in the men’s singles draw by Ayush Shetty, World Championships bronze medallist HS Prannoy, Kiran George and Tharun Mannepalli.
India’s top doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have opted out of the men’s doubles draw following a third successive first-round exit in Paris.

Arjun Reddy Pochana and Achutaditya Rao Doddavarapu are the only representatives from the country in the draw and will begin their campaign in the qualifiers.
The women’s and mixed doubles draw will feature no Indian participants.
Live streaming of Hylo Open 2026 badminton matches will be available on FanCode in India.
