Solar energy projects will provide employment to the youth in Bihar: Nitish

Patna, June 4 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said the state government was committed to providing quality and uninterrupted power supply to people, and solar energy projects would help in creating job opportunities for the youth.
After inaugurating the Bikram Lock Canal Bank Solar Project, the CM said the state government was promoting solar energy under the 'Jal Jeevan Hariyali Mission'.
A detailed survey would be carried out at vacant places near various canals, embankments and rivers so that solar power projects could be established there, he added.
"Setting up large number of solar plants would help in minimising the dependence on conventional sources of energy," the Chief Minister said, adding that his government had taken a number of steps to improve the power scenario in Bihar since it was voted to power in 2005.
The Bikram Lock Canal Solar Power Project would generate two MW electricity, he stated.
