Southwest monsoon further advanced into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea

Pune, June 16 (UNI) Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea; some parts of north Arabian Sea and Gujarat; remaining parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana; some parts of Madhya Pradesh; some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon over remaining parts of North Arabian Sea; some more parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh; remaining parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha; some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand; remaining parts of Northwest Bay of Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal; some parts of Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal ( > 5.1°C) at most places over Arunachal Pradesh; at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, east Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Odisha, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.
The day temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Jharkhand; at a few places over Bihar; atisolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
The temperatures near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at many places over west Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and coastal
Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Gangetic
West Bengal; at a few places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Lakshadweep; atisolated
places over Uttarakhand, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe.
The highest maximum temperature of 43.2°C was reported at Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).

The Southwest Monsoon has been active over Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala. It has been subdued over Telangana.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at many places in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Madhya Maharashtra and south interior Karnataka and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, north interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema and Tamil Nadu.
Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Monday.
