SP promoting nepotism and money power in name of 'PDA': Mayawati

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) Days after Samajwadi Party fielded industrialist Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani in the Rajya Sabha biennial polls, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of practicing nepotism and money power, saying that the SP calls itself a socialist and PDA party, but its conduct is contrary to this in elections.
Mayawati said in a series of posts on the social media platform 'X' on Friday that the BSP does not give tickets to big capitalists and wealthy people in any election, whether big or small, unlike the opposition parties, especially the SP, and does not rely on their financial power.
She said that the BSP only fields hardworking Ambedkarite candidates from among the poor, middle class, and weaker sections of society.
Taking aim at the SP, the BSP chief said that the SP does the exact opposite and pretends to be a socialist and so-called PDA party.
Referring to the SP's renomination of Professor Ramgopal Yadav in the Rajya Sabha elections, she said that he is a close relative of the SP chief.
Mayawati also raised questions about the SP's second candidate, Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani, saying that he is associated with a well-known business family. She claimed that people believe the SP's third candidate, like before, may be there to save face and lose the election.
Mayawati said that the public should consider the SP's conduct before voting for it in the name of "PDA" and socialism. She said that the party mostly prioritizes its family members and big capitalists for the positions of MPs and MLAs.
The BSP chief said that this double standard of the SP is nothing new and has been the case for a long time. She especially appealed to the poor and Bahujan Samaj of Uttar Pradesh—Dalits, tribals, extremely backward classes, Muslims, and other religious minority communities—to be vigilant ahead of the assembly elections.
Mayawati said that the interests of these classes are vested and protected in Ambedkarite BSP, while everything else is a political sham. UNI MBD SAS
