Patna, June 19 (UNI) A special fast-track court would be constituted in every district of Bihar to hear Arms Act cases, said top police official here on Thursday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar said that a proposal in this connection has been submitted before the government.
Kumar said that more than 5,000 cases under Arms Act were registered during the last one year across the state but in absence of fast-track courts in the state, there is unnecessary delay in hearing of these cases.
As speedy trials of Arms Act cases used to be conducted and criminals were being punished by the court within a week in between 2005 and 2011 following which people did not dare to go out with weapons. But after the end of the fast-track courts in 2011, the hearing of such cases got delayed and its pendency kept on increasing.
