Stallion Show held at Imphal polo ground

Imphal, Apr 17 (UNI) The third Manipuri Pony Stallion (Mapa Sha) Show organised by the Manipuri Pony Society (MPS) and sponsored by Mangal Foundation was held on Thursday at Imphal Polo Ground (Mapal Kangjeibung).
Altogether fourteen stallions took part in the show, which was examined by a panel of judges comprising Dr Sagolsem Upendro Singh, Dr Laishram Arjun Singh, Dr K Bidyalaxmi, and N Nehru Singh (VFA) from the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur.
The first prize of the Stallion Show was won by six-year-old Wonderful, Thangjam Gayatri of Chingkheihunba Polo Club, and the second prize went to Takeo, N Bamnkin of Luwanglakpa Polo Club, while the third was won by Bulbul, MC Chaoba of Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club. The show was graced by Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Vice-Chancellor DM University, and presided over by Prof Ch Priyoranjan Singh, President Manipuri Pony Society.
Prof W Chandbabu Singh said that the age-old of traditional and cultural values associated with the Manipuri Ponies have its significance till today, and we are happy that the Manipuri Pony Society, Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association and the Manipur Equestrian Association have initiated to save the stallions by organising the show. He expressed his views that the syllabus and curriculum of the educational institutions should include our heritage of pony for the younger generations.
