Hyderabad, June 28 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu today directed officials to expedite the preparatory works for Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) upcoming renewable energy projects—an 800 MW floating solar plant, a 500 MW wind power plant, and a 500 MW pumped storage power plant.
Bhatti, who held a special review meeting at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan to assess SCCL’s business expansion plans, including floating solar plants, pumped storage plants, and other renewable energy projects, also directed the officials concerned to complete the projects within fixed deadlines.
He instructed officials to obtain permissions from the Irrigation Department for the proposed 300 MW floating solar plant on Lower Manair Dam reservoir and the 500 MW floating solar plant on Mallannasagar.
He stressed that these projects must be undertaken in a highly profitable manner.
He also instructed that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the 500 MW wind power plants, which are to be set up across five districts of the state, must be completed by the end of next month.
He advised the use of advanced technology to enhance the feasibility and appeal of this innovative project.
Regarding the 500 MW pumped storage power plant planned to be built using water from the Medipalli open cast mine in the Ramagundam-1 area, the Dy CM directed that construction work should begin immediately.
He further urged speedy implementation of the agreement signed with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) for setting up a 1500 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan’s solar valley.
In addition, he held detailed discussions on establishing an 800 MW thermal project as part of this collaboration and advised that steps be taken to present this proposal in the cabinet at the earliest.
The Deputy CM also closely reviewed the progress of other initiatives like the Green Hydrogen Plant and Battery Storage System proposed by SCCL.
He directed that a centralised dashboard be developed to monitor the performance and progress of all projects under the Energy Department in real time.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram, who delivered a PowerPoint presentation explaining the details of the planned solar, floating solar, and renewable projects, mentioned that SCCL aims to generate around 7,000 MW of electricity through these initiatives and requested support from the State Government and its departments in securing necessary approvals.
He asserted that these expansion efforts are crucial for the long-term sustainability of the company.
The review meeting was attended by Energy Department Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal, Telangana REDCO Vice Chairperson and MD Anila, SCCL Executive Director (Coal Movement) S.D.M.
