Telangana Govt to build 20L Indiramma Houses in 3.5 yrs

Nalgonda (Telangana), June 22 (UNI) Telangana Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday announced that the state government will construct 20 lakh Indiramma houses over the next three and a half years.

Addressing a public meeting held at the mini stadium in Nakirekal constituency in Nalgonda district, where house sanction documents were distributed to beneficiaries, the Minister said the first phase of the scheme is already underway with the construction of 4.5 lakh houses. The government has set a target of constructing 3,500 houses in each constituency.

As part of the state’s land regularisation initiative Bhu Bharati, the Minister said that 8.6 lakh applications were received across Telangana during revenue grievance meetings.

He assured that all legitimate applications would be resolved by August 15 to provide much-needed relief and freedom to farmers. Ponguleti emphasized the government’s commitment to conducting a complete purge of land-related disputes through Bhu Bharati, thereby ensuring justice to farmers and eliminating confusion over land ownership.

He stated that all eligible poor families would be provided houses under the Indiramma scheme, with each house ranging between 400 and 600 square feet.

The Minister directed district Collectors to ensure transparent selection of beneficiaries, including those whose houses were previously sanctioned but left incomplete. Once beneficiaries receive their house sanctions, they must begin construction within 30 days, and bills will be paid in four installments. Price control committees have been set up at the mandal level to regulate the costs of steel, cement, and other construction materials.

Highlighting the government’s broader welfare efforts, the Minister noted the increase of the Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance limit to Rs 10 lakh, provision of free electricity up to 200 units, LPG cylinders at Rs 500, and the distribution of subsidized rice.

He said 60,000 government jobs were provided within a year and added that under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, financial support was raised to Rs 12,000 per acre, with Rs 9,000 crore deposited in farmers' accounts in just nine days.

Criticising the previous government, he pointed out the neglect of major irrigation projects in Nalgonda and the failure to take up the SLBC project.

He said the previous government didn’t provide even a single rupee for the Ram temple in Bhadrachalam, whereas the current Congress-led government has sanctioned Rs 85 to Rs 90 crore.

He also announced that, as requested by Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, government orders will be issued within a week sanctioning buildings for the Tahsildar offices of Ramannapet and Nakirekal mandals.
