Telangana Govt to host 5-day Bonalu Handicrafts Exhibition featuring BC artisans' products

Hyderabad, June 23 (UNI) In celebration of the Bonalu Festival, the Government of Telangana,
under the aegis of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, will host a five-day exhibition
and sale showcasing the traditional handicrafts and culinary delights of BC communities.
The exhibition will take place from June 25 to 29, at the venue beside Ambedkar Statue on Tank Bund, from 1000 to 2130 hours PM daily, with free entry for all visitors.
The event will feature an array of eco-friendly and handmade products by artisans from various BC communities. Highlights include clay pots crafted by Kummari potters, traditional 'Neera' drinks by Goud community members, bamboo items made by Medari artisans, and beading and weaving crafts from renowned handloom hubs like Pochampally, Gadwala, and Narayanpet.
In addition to handicrafts, food lovers can enjoy traditional Telangana cuisine, including fish-based delicacies prepared by the Besta community, and other regional dishes, served at specially set-up food stalls.
Minister for BC Welfare, Ponnam Prabhakar, has urged the citizens of Hyderabad to participate in large numbers, support the artisans, and purchase these eco-friendly, health-conscious products.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to promote and empower BC artisans while experiencing
Telangana’s rich cultural heritage during the Bonalu festivities,” he said.
