Telangana Guv, CM congratulate Indian women's hockey team on Asian Games gold

Hyderabad, Oct 3 (UNI) Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday congratulated the Indian women's hockey team for winning the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan.
In a message, the Governor congratulated the team on its historic triumph and said the victory reflected the players' determination, discipline and exceptional sporting spirit.
"The entire nation is proud of our champions. My best wishes to the team for many more laurels and successes in the years ahead," the Governor said.
In a separate message, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated the Indian women's team for its performance against China in the final and said the victory ended a 44-year wait for a gold medal in women's hockey at the Asian Games.
He specially congratulated Lalremsiami Hmarzote for scoring India's goal in the 10th minute and goalkeeper Savita Punia for making a crucial save from a penalty stroke during the second quarter.
The Chief Minister said the team's determined performance was highly commendable and would serve as an inspiration to athletes across the country.
Revanth Reddy also said India had secured fifth position in the Asian Games medal tally with 76 medals, including 16 gold medals, and described the women's hockey team's triumph as a matter of pride for the nation. UNI KNR SAS
