Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday directed officials to expedite the implementation of BC welfare schemes, improve educational infrastructure and expand employment and self-employment opportunities for Backward Classes.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister stressed transparency and efficiency in implementing welfare programmes and instructed officials to expedite Government Orders for the construction of 38 Atma Gaurava Bhavans for BC communities.
Reviewing the Indiramma Intinta Kuttu Machine scheme, he said around 4.80 lakh applications had been received and directed officials to prepare an action plan to distribute sewing machines to 1.90 lakh women on December 9.
Expressing concern over residential school infrastructure, Prabhakar noted that only 26 of the State’s 327 BC residential schools had their own buildings, while the remaining 301 were functioning in private premises. The Minister also called for reforms in BC Study Circles to provide quality coaching for competitive examinations and improve employment prospects. He stressed the need for a special action plan to promote self-employment among BC communities and directed officials to constitute a dedicated committee to develop skill training opportunities for BC widows and single women.
He further instructed officials to take steps to establish modern dhobighats in every Assembly constituency to support the Rajaka community. He emphasised coordinated efforts to ensure welfare schemes effectively reach eligible beneficiaries, according to an official statement.
