TGNAB renamed EAGLE to sniff out Ganja production: CM

Hyderabad, Jun 16 (UNI) Calling upon people to join hands with the state government in the fight against drug abuse, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday evening announced that the TGNAB (Telangana Anti Narcotic Bureau) was renamed ‘EAGLE’ (Elite Action Group For Drug Law Enforcement) to further strengthen the vigilance on drugs and Ganja trafficking.
Participating at the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking- 2025 here, Revanth Reddy said that the main role of the EAGLE is to sniff out Ganja wherever it is grown in the state and also curb drug trafficking across the state border.
“Strict vigilance is the only solution to curb drug trafficking in the state”, the CM said the land of struggles and movements- Telangana State should not become a hub of Ganja and drugs.
"We all should join hands to eradicate drug menace and make Telangana a role model for the world”, the CM remarked.
Stating that the Telangana region has a great history with a spirit of struggle as many leaders fought against Nizam and Rajakars, Revanth Reddy said that it is not a good sign that the Telangana Youth succumb to drug addiction.
"Soon after coming to power, the People’s government cracked a whip on drug trafficking and took stringent measures to curb drugs and ganja abuse," he said.
Appealing to the educational institutions and Colleges to take all measures to keep the students away from drug abuse, he said and adding that the educational Managements are responsible to check drug abuse.
India is the only country in the world with 68 percent youth, the CM said that the enemy countries are choosing various ways to weaken our country and one of them is drug trafficking. In Punjab, youth has become addicted to marijuana and drugs.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure the Telangana youth did not fall prey to drugs”, said Revanth Reddy.
In his speech , the CM highlighted the state government’s efforts to provide jobs to the youth by establishing the Skills University. The new generation should also study and excel in sports to become the future heroes of the country.
Apart from jobs, the CM said that he is ready to provide political opportunities to the sports persons also.
The efforts made by him yielded good results in his political career as he rose to the level of CM from ZPTC member, he said.
“ I hailed from Nallamala and rose to the level of Chief Minister”, Revanth Reddy said the popular film hero Vijay Deverakonda also grew up in Nallamala region.
“You cannot reach this level without difficulty and commitment. It is the reason we all should come together to curb the drug menace”, he added.
