Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught a Superintending Engineer of the Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
According to an official statement from the ACB, the accused officer, Jangam Naresh, serving as Superintending Engineer, TGNPDCL, Operations Circle, Mahabubabad, was apprehended at around 800 hours at his residence by the ACB Warangal Range officials.
He was caught while accepting Rs 80,000 as part of a total Rs 1 lakh bribe, having already received Rs 20,000 from the complainant earlier.
The bribe was allegedly demanded for extending official favour in approving the continuation of agreements related to existing Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) for works in Kuravi and Maripeda Sub-Divisions.
The tainted amount of Rs 80,000 was recovered from the accused, and chemical tests conducted on his fingers and the right pocket of his trousers yielded positive results, confirming the handling of the bribe money.
The ACB stated that the officer had acted dishonestly and misused his official position for personal gain.
He was being arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases in Karimnagar.
