Thermo Fisher Scientific and AIC-CCMB launch supply centre

Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) In a major boost to life sciences research and innovation, Thermo Fisher Scientific, in collaboration with the Atal Incubation Centre-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (AIC-CCMB), inaugurated a state-of-the-art supply centre and commenced a specialized cell health analysis workshop in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The supply centre, located at CCMB Annexe 2, was formally inaugurated by Dr. Vinay Kumar Nandicoori, director of CCMB. It offers researchers and startups real-time access to essential lab consumables — ranging from reagents to advanced scientific materials — significantly reducing procurement delays and supporting faster scientific progress.
“Specialised consumables have always been a challenge for researchers, sometimes costing months between ordering and delivery. The supply centre is a big step in addressing these logistical issues,” said Jayabharath Reddy, director at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “By putting essential materials right on campus, we’re enabling faster scientific breakthroughs.”
Echoing the sentiment, Dr Nandicoori stated, “The Supply Centre will enhance the pace of ongoing and future research at CCMB and surrounding institutions.”
Building on the collaboration, AIC-CCMB and Thermo Fisher launched a three-day Cell Health Analysis Workshop (June 18–20), aimed at upskilling researchers in critical cell-based assays used in biomedical research and drug discovery.
The hands-on workshop includes theoretical sessions and live demonstrations using cutting-edge instruments such as the Attune NxT Flow Cytometer, Evos M7000 Imaging System, and CX7 High-Content Screening System.
Participants are being trained in assessing cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, immune phenotyping, and oxidative stress—techniques vital for developing therapies for diseases like cancer.
“Cell analysis is crucial in developing therapies for cancer and other diseases. This workshop gives researchers hands-on exposure to advanced tools,” said Dr. Madhusudhana Rao, CEO, AIC-CCMB.
These initiatives mark a significant step toward strengthening academia–industry collaboration and advancing India’s life sciences ecosystem by equipping researchers with both resources and cutting-edge knowledge, a CCMB statement said.
