Third suspect held in Sirsa solar plant contractor's murder; heroin seized in separate case

Sirsa, Oct 21 (UNI) Sirsa police have arrested a third suspect in the October 6 murder of a solar plant contractor at Jamal village and secured his three-day police remand to investigate the alleged conspiracy and identify others involved, Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan said.
The accused, identified as Manish Kumar of Dhukra village, was arrested at Nathusari Chopta Chowk.
Police alleged that he drove a vehicle on the day of the killing and stood guard at the plant's gate carrying a sharp-edged weapon resembling a cleaver, keeping watch on people approaching the premises.
The victim, Subhash Chandra, undertook contract work at a solar plant operated by Hexa Sun Energy Private Limited near the Rajasthan border. He was sitting inside the plant on October 6 when two or three men arrived, shot him and fled, Saharan said.
Chandra was taken to Sirsa Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment.
On a complaint from his father, Bhadar Ram of Jamal village, police registered a murder case against 11 people, including the alleged principal accused, Rahul.
Two other key accused had already been arrested and sent to judicial custody, police said. Investigators are questioning Manish about his alleged role, the planning behind the killing and the involvement of other suspects.
"Police are investigating every aspect of the case. No accused involved in the murder conspiracy will be spared," Saharan said.
In a separate operation, the district's Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a man after allegedly recovering 7.36 grams of heroin from his possession. A case was registered at Sadar Sirsa police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The accused was identified as Sikander Singh, alias Kala, originally from Takhatmal village in Kalanwali tehsil and currently residing in Sundar Nagar, Sirsa.
Police said a patrol team intercepted him after he allegedly turned around and attempted to flee on seeing its vehicle. The heroin was recovered during a search conducted in the presence of a gazetted officer, according to police.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge said investigators would produce the accused before a court and seek police custody to establish the source of the heroin, its intended recipient and possible links to a wider supply network.
"The campaign against drug trafficking will continue, and strict legal action will be taken against those involved," police said.
