Tripura Police detain five illegal Bangladeshi nationals

Agartala, May 22 (UNI) Tripura Police on Thursday detained five Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly entering Indian territory illegally by crossing the international border in the Madhupur area of Sepahijala district.
Officer-in-Charge of Madhupur Police Station Debajit Chatterjee said, “In the wee hours today, acting on a credible input and with the assistance of local villagers, we apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals near a village close to the India-Bangladesh border. They were brought to the police station for questioning. A case has been registered, and they will be produced before the court.”
He said that all five individuals are reported to be members of the same family from Kurigram district in Bangladesh.
The official said that the case is currently under investigation to ascertain further details, including the identity of the individual who facilitated the illegal entry.
The detained include two women and three men, identified as Manir Khan, Saheba Khatun, Shahjala Khan, Swadhin Khan, and Dulali Khatun.
During preliminary interrogation, one of the detainees, Shahjala Khan, reportedly confessed that a person had assisted them in crossing the international border and that they were en route to Delhi.

Bhubaneswar, May 22 (UNI) The Cyber Crime Unit of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested a man from Howrah for allegedly defrauding a person of Rs 73.62 lakh by threatening him with a so-called "digital arrest."
According to sources at the Odisha Police headquarters on Thursday, mobile phone, SIM card, Aadhaar card, and other incriminating items of the accused, identified as Rohit Kumar Jaiswal, have been seized, and his bank accounts have also been frozen as part of the investigation.
