Trough extends from South Maharashtra to Coastal Andhra; thunderstorms likely: Met

Amaravati, June 6 (UNI) A trough is currently extending from South Madhya Maharashtra to Coastal Andhra Pradesh, passing through North Interior Karnataka and Telangana at 1.5 km above mean sea level, the Meteorological Centre said in its daily weather report on Friday.

Another trough extending from South Chhattisgarh to Northeast Bangladesh at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked, the report added.

The Meteorological Centre has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40–50 kmph at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next five days.

Similar weather conditions—thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph—are likely at isolated places in Rayalaseema on June 8, 9, and 10.

Gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are also expected at isolated places in Rayalaseema during the next 48 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at one or two places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next seven days.

A heat wave condition prevailed in the Narsapur district of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours.

Rainfall was reported at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the same period, the report said.
