Trump says Republicans would have won midterms 'in a landslide' if he had been on ballot

Washington, Nov 4 (UNI) US President Donald Trump, reacting to sweeping Democratic victories in the midterm elections, claimed that Republicans would have won "in a landslide" had he himself been on the ballot.
"I wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
Trump later posted a photograph of a baseball cap bearing the word "VETO" on the front, in an apparent reference to his executive powers and the political challenges posed by the Democrats' victories.
However, in an interview with The New York Times, Trump said he would accept the election results and is willing to work with Democrats, suggesting that the two parties could find common ground.
The remarks came after Democrats registered major victories in the midterm elections, winning control of Congress and dealing a setback to Trump's Republican Party.
House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said the results showed that Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement is losing ground across the country.
"MAGA extremists are on the run from sea to shining sea. Donald Trump is shook right now," Jeffries said in a video posted on Facebook after Democrats were projected to secure a majority in the House of Representatives.
Jeffries, currently the House minority leader, is expected to become Speaker when the new Congress convenes. If elected, he would make history as the first Black politician to hold the position. UNI AAB CDS
