Two drug peddlers arrested in Ziro, 42.94 gram heroin seized

Itanagar, July 1 (UNI) In a major breakthrough under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Ziro Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 42.94 grams of suspected heroin during an operation conducted last night, a senior officer said today.
Acting on a credible tip-off regarding a drug consignment being transported from Naharlagun,
a police team led by Inspector M Lalyang, along with SI K Yigam, ASI P Nobin, head constable
T Tale, constable J Jangoi, and lady constable P Yaja, set up a naka checking point at Police
Check Gate, Kardo (Hapoli) under the supervision of SDPO O Lego.
The operation was conducted under the overall guidance of Superintendent of Police, Keni Bagra.
The SP said that at around 9.10 pm, a silver Maruti WagonR matching the description of the suspected vehicle approached the checkpoint. When signaled to stop, the vehicle attempted
to flee, prompting an immediate high-speed chase by the police team.
The vehicle was eventually intercepted near Tribal Gym, Hapoli, and a search was conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate Hage Tarung (SDO) and independent witnesses.
The two individuals inside the vehicle were identified as Biju Borgohain (40), and Hage Tachang (35). A thorough search led to the recovery of 33 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing a total of 42.94 grams.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Ziro Police Station under Sections 21(b)/27A of the NDPS Act, and the investigation has been entrusted to SI J Doye.
