Two Pune universities among world's top 1000

Pune, June 19 (UNI) Pune's Savitribai Phule Pune University and Symbiosis University have moved up in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2026.
The Savitribai Phule Pune University is ranked 566th, while Symbiosis University is ranked 696th.
QS rankings are considered important at the global level. More than 1,500 universities from around the world are included in the 2026 rankings. This year too, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US has maintained its top spot. QS has noted that the rankings of about 500 universities have improved compared to last year. As many as 54 universities from India have made it to the list.
Despite the decline in the number of professors in the university, research performance and employability index have increased. The university's position has improved by 75 places compared to 2025. The university is ranked 15th among the top educational institutions like IITs, IIMs, other central institutes, universities at the national level, and second after IIT Mumbai in Maharashtra, and the top among public state universities.
This success is due to the significant increase in the qualitative and quantitative opportunities available to students in jobs, employment, and entrepreneurship.
