Two terrorist associates arrested in Tral; explosive substance & ammunition recovered

Srinagar, July 3 (UNI) Security forces has arrested two militant associates from Awantipora sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered explosive substance, ammunition from their possession, police said today.

They said Awantipora Police, along with Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, and CRPF’s 180 battalion arrested the duo at a checkpoint established at Wagad crossing in Tral.

The two were identified as Umer Mohi-ud-Din Bhat of Nader Tral and Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh of Kuchmulla Tral.

“During search, explosive substance, ammunition including two hand grenades, 59 live rounds of ⁠AK-47,an AK 47 Magazine and incriminating material was recovered,” police said.

Police said both the arrested terrorist associates were involved in providing logistics support and transportation of arms & ammunition to the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad in Tral and Awantipora areas of the sub-district.

Accordingly a case under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated.
