Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya meets Arunachal Guv, discusses youth empowerment, sports & labour reforms

Itanagar, May 2 (UNI) Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh L
Mandaviya, called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan here on Friday and engaged in insightful discussions focused on strategic initiatives for youth empowerment, sports development, and addressing labour-related challenges in the state.
During the meeting, Governor Parnaik hailed Arunachal Pradesh as an emerging hub of sporting excellence and youthful energy, particularly noting the natural agility, stamina, and discipline among the tribal communities.
“Our youth have showcased remarkable performances in boxing, martial arts (taekwondo, wushu), and athletics at both national and international levels,” he stated.
While appreciating the talent pool, the governor emphasised the pressing need to provide adequate facilities and sports infrastructure to help these young sportspersons reach their full potential. He urged the union minister to support the development of multi-disciplinary stadiums in urban centres and basic sports facilities such as football fields, volleyball courts, and archery ranges in remote villages—often home to hidden talent yet to be discovered.
Highlighting the inspiring achievements of Arunachali women in adventure sports, the governor proudly mentioned five female mountaineers—Tine Mena, Anshu Jamsenpa, Muri Linngi, Tashi Yangjom, and Kabak Yano—who have conquered Mount Everest. He said that these women have become icons, and they deserve continued support and recognition to pursue their dreams.
On the labour front, the governor noted that Arunachal Pradesh is undergoing a transition in its labour ecosystem. “While traditional occupations still form the backbone of rural livelihoods, we are witnessing a growing need for formalisation, skill development, and employment generation,” he said.
He called for inclusive labour policies, investment in human capital, and robust infrastructure to unlock the full potential of the state's workforce.
The Union Minister acknowledged the state’s unique challenges and expressed his commitment to supporting youth and labour initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasised the government’s focus on creating opportunities and uplifting the socio-economic fabric of the region.
State Minister of Labour and Employment Nyato Dukam also attended the meeting.
