Union Minister to lay stone for ‘Akhanda Godavari’ tourist project

Vijayawada, Jun 23 (UNI) Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekavat, flanked by Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, will lay the foundation stone for the ‘Akhanda Godavari’ tourist project on June 26 in Rajahmundry.

AP State Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh said here on Monday that the mega tourist project ‘Akhanda Godavari’ would be taken up at a cost of Rs 94.44 crore for which Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekavar, accompanied by deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and MP and BJP State president D Purandeswari, would lay the foundation stone.

Tourism Minister Durgesh said that the tender process for the modernization of the Pushkar ghat at the river Godavari in Rajahmundry will be completed. "New splendor for the historic Havelock Bridge with the ‘Akhanda Godavari’ project will be given while Pushkar Ghat will be developed as a spiritual center and the famous Kadiyam nurseries will be promoted under the Akhanda Godavari project," he acknowledged.

The famous Kadiyam nurseries would be developed as an experience center, Minister Kandula Durgesh revealed. The Kotasattema temple, located near Nidadavole town, would be renovated and beautified as a more attractive temple in the area under the Akhanda Godavari project, the Minister highlighted. As part of the project, boating would be set up in the river Godavari and a tent city would also be built to attract tourists.

Steps are being taken to start the ‘Godavari Harati’ programme on the riverfront of Godavari. The Tourism Minister hoped tht 15 lakh to 20 lakh tourists would visit the tourist places located in the Godavari region, after the completion of Akhanda Godavari mega project project,

Furthermore, the Akhanda Godavari tourist project would generate over 8000 jobs in the region, he added. The Central Government had sanctioned Rs 375 crore to AP to develop various tourist places in the state, he observed.
