UP: Former BJP MP Dharmendra Kashyap joins SP along with other leaders

Lucknow, Oct 27 (UNI) Former BJP MP from Aonla (Bareilly) Dharmendra Kashyap and his daughter Kirti Kashyap joined the Samajwadi Party here on Tuesday.
Earlier, after resigning from the BJP, Kashyap had met Akhilesh Yadav with his daughter in Lucknow on October 11, after which the discussions about his joining the SP intensified.
Along with former MP Kashyap, many big leaders and workers of various parties took membership of the SP.
Kashyap claimed here that law and order is mortgaged in Uttar Pradesh, and backward classes are denied justice.
"Bulldozers are not used against those who murder members of the Kashyap community. I assure you that I will connect every single member of the fishing community with the SP," he said.
He said that the, "The wheel of development is entangled, law and order is mortgaged, it is very necessary for the people of Uttar Pradesh that Akhilesh Yadav firms the next government.

Welcoming the leaders in the party fold Akhilesh said," Dharmendra Kashyap, Neeraj Maurya and Syed Abid Ali, the three big faces who contested against each other in the 2024 elections in Amla, are on the same platform today."
"Ever since Dharmendra ji said "bye-bye" when he left the BJP, we have wanted him to join us. His arrival will further strengthen our fight for social justice. Our party will leave no stone unturned to give him full political respect and his rightful place," he said.
Dharmendra was elected MP from the Amla constituency on a BJP ticket in 2014 and 2019. He lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and since then, he has been upset over the party's neglect and the lack of action against those who were behind his defeat. After not being nominated for the Rajya Sabha elections in October, he announced his departure from the BJP by posting "Bye Bye" on social media.
Kashyap began his political career in 2002 by winning the Sanha assembly seat from the BSP. He later joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) and became a minister of state in the 2003 Mulayam Singh Yadav government. He was again elected as an MLA in 2007 and, just before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, joined the BJP and became an MP. Now, he has returned to the Samajwadi Party (SP).
The party is considering a ticket for Kirti Kashyap, daughter of former MP Dharmendra Kashyap. She is likely to be the SP candidate from the Bithri Chainpur assembly seat in Bareilly.
