War of words between Rajasthan BJP leaders and RLP chief Beniwal turns personal and bitter

Jaipur, July 3 (UNI) The intermittent war of words between the ruling BJP leaders and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party supremo, sitting Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, turned bitter and personal with Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham taking serious exception to utterances made by Beniwal against Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the MoS.
In a statement issued last evening, Minister Bedham said- "It is not befitting for a four-timer legislator and a two term Lok Sabha member to lose his cool and make indecent remarks against the incumbent Chief Minister and other leaders."
The Home Minister said that last weekend Beniwal visited Bharatpur district - the home town of CM Sharma and MoS Bedham - to address a Jat congregation. However, he lost his cool by seeing poor gathering in the sammelan.
"In a frustrated state Beniwal used indecent foul language to make baseless comments against me and the Chief Minister", Bedham said.
In a speech laced with satirical quips the MP made remarks that reflected his "ignorance about the historic roles of Rajasthan's real heroes, including the Jat King of Bharatpur Maharaja Suraj Mal, Maharana Pratap and Panna Dhai.
Likewise, the Chief Minister Sharma, has been giving pro development excellent governance in the state during the past one and a half years.
However, Beniwal, belittled CM's works and persona with his dismissive and indecent remarks.
"This is not healthy criticism. Since the assembly by-polls in November last year, on Khimsar (Nagaur)seat, Beniwal made it his habit to condemn political adversaries to vent his frustration. This is because of the defeat of his wife Kanika Beniwal on Khimsar assembly seat that was vacated by Beniwal himself after winning the Lok Sabha election from Nagaur in June last year," MoS Bedham said.
This sort of conduct is not expected from a leader of his stature. The foul language used by Beniwal is neither befitting to decorum of a four time MLA and two term MP like him not dignified to the statute of leaders targeted by him, Bedham said.
Beniwal's father and younger brother Narsin were also the MLAs from there. Since Beniwal in his pro-active mode of politics, has intermittently been engaged in verbal duels with leaders of the ruling BJP as well as the principal Opposition Congress, this could have been deemed usual pot shots firing between the rivals.
However, disconnecting the electricity supply in the residence of his elder brother that houses his MP office for non payment of the power bills on Wednesday had given different colour to the situation. The Power Supply Corporation has issued demand of bill dues of over Rs 11 lakh. However, the consumer - his brother - has stated that the bill dues were in dispute and a conciliatory process was on.
MP Beniwal has also termed the move of disconnection as "act of political bias" against me as I have been vocal in taking proactive and pro people stance against the wrong doings of the state government in respect of all public concern related issues.
"To facilitate viable settlement of bill payment I had even paid Rs 2 lakh in March last," he said.
Beniwal has also made serious accusations against Bedham and his Cabinet colleague Joga Ram Patel on issues related to the government decision against cancellation of SI recruitment examination 2021 and handling of the Gurjar Reservation quota issue yesterday.
This made the political cross firing a bit personal and bitter. The BJP state leadership as well as Chief Minister Sharma too have taken it seriously.
Beniwal had sweet and sour relations both with Congress and the BJP, hence, he had been seen locking horns sometimes with the saffron dispensation and otherwise the grand old party led INDI block.
In 2003 he had unsuccessfully contested Khimsar seat for the Indian National Lok Dal. In 2008 he contested and won the seat on BJP ticket. In 2013 after being expelled from the BJP he had entered the fray as an Independent and won a second term from the seat.
In 2018 and 2023 state polls he had been re elected to the assembly and 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha election as the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party candidate. In 2024 Lok Sabha polls his RLP was in alliance with INDI block.
