Washington, May 4 (UNI) The US Army will hold a large-scale military parade on the streets of the US capital of Washington, DC, on June 14 to celebrate its 250th anniversary, with 6,600 soldiers, 50 aircraft and 150 ground vehicles taking part, according to a published statement.
"Parade planning is actively underway, and we anticipate approximately 150 vehicles, 50 aircraft, and 6,600 Soldiers to highlight the Army’s 250 years of service to the nation," the US Army said.
In addition, the US military plans to hold demonstrations of military equipment and hardware. It is noted that other events are planned throughout the day, including a military festival on the National Mall in downtown Washington.
The date of the parade coincides with the birthday of US President Donald Trump, who turns 79 on June 14.
Earlier, The Hill newspaper reported, citing a source, that it was the Trump administration that was planning to hold a military parade in Washington on June 14, timed to coincide with the US leader's birthday. It was indicated that the parade could stretch almost 6.5 kilometers from Arlington in Virginia, where the Department of Defense is located, to the White House. According to the source, planning for the event began last year.
