West Bengal Chief Minister says TMC's Abhishek Banerjee suffers from "sodium-potassium problem"

Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, on Friday launched an attack on Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, mocking the nephew of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over his warning to police officers and claiming that “fear and panic” had caused him a “sodium-potassium problem”.
Addressing reporters at the BJP office in Salt Lake ahead of his Janata Darbar, Adhikari also targeted Banerjee over the arrest of his aide and personal assistant (PA) Sumit Roy, alleging that Roy had disclosed details during police interrogation.
“From what I understand, the person who used to collect money for him as his PA has spilt all the truth during interrogation. The Diamond Harbour police took him into custody and questioned him, and everything has come out,” Adhikari said.
“Because of that fear and panic, he has developed a sodium-potassium problem in his body,” he added.
Adhikari further mocked Banerjee over reports that he may seek medical treatment in New York.
“If he wants to go to New York for treatment in this situation, our government will quickly issue an NOC (No Objection Certificate). There will be no problem,” he said.
The BJP leader alleged that Roy had been involved in collecting money from Camac Street and claimed that he had disclosed details to investigators.
“I think the aide who used to collect money from Camac Street has told everything,” Adhikari said.
He also alleged that despite the TMC being in power in West Bengal for 15 years, Banerjee communicated through FaceTime with only “three or four” people.
Adhikari's remarks came a day after Banerjee warned police officers whom he accused of acting at the BJP leader's behest, saying he was maintaining a list of their names and that they would face consequences if there was a change of government in the state.
Banerjee had alleged that police officers were harassing TMC workers to please the political leadership and questioned the arrest of Roy. Describing the present state government as an “interim” government, he warned the officers that no one would be able to protect them if the government changed.
Banerjee had also demanded the arrest of members of the Chorbagan Durga Puja committee in connection with the stampede-like incident during the festival in which several people were killed.
