Woman arrested with 10g Heroin in Panchkula, Police probe wider drug network

Panchkula, Oct 29 (UNI) Panchkula Police have arrested a woman from Sector 20 with 10 grams of heroin and launched an investigation into the source of the contraband and possible links to a wider drug supply network.
The accused, identified as Guddi, was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Cell near Ashiana Complex in Sector 20 on October 27. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Sector 20 police station.
According to ACP Crime Aman Kumar, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team, led by in-charge Saurav Rawat and accompanied by a woman police officer, acted on information about a suspicious woman in the area. During questioning, the woman allegedly attempted to discard an object she was carrying. Police personnel intervened and recovered 10 grams of heroin, officials said.
The accused was produced before a court on October 28, following which police obtained two days of remand for further questioning. Investigators are now working to establish the source of the heroin, its intended destination and whether other individuals were involved in the alleged drug trade.
DCP Crime and Traffic Amrinder Singh said police had received information that other members of the accused’s family had previously been jailed in heroin trafficking cases. Investigators are examining these details to determine whether the case has links to a broader drug supply chain.
