Youth organisations thank Odisha CM for raising upper age limit in govt jobs

Bhubaneswar, May 29 (UNI) Various student and youth organisations in Odisha on Thursday expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for raising the upper age limit for entry into government posts to 42 years.
The Odisha Cabinet, on Wednesday, approved the increase in the upper age limit from 32 to 42 years.
However, this change will not apply to uniformed services such as police, forest, civil services, fire services, where physical ability tests are required.
For candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, women, persons with disabilities, and ex-servicemen, the upper age limit will continue to be relaxed as per the prevailing government rules.
It is worth noting that there had been long standing demands from various quarters to raise the age limit for government job applicants.
The Chief Minister's decision is being seen as a historic move that fulfills the long-standing aspirations and struggles of many youth seeking employment. UNI DP SSP
