Amit Shah says BJP ready for special session to discuss Election Commission

Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah, while exhorting BJP workers to gear up for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, asserted that the party would return to power in the state for a third consecutive term.
Taking on Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah on Friday challenged them to convene a special session in Parliament to discuss the Election Commission, saying the BJP was ready for such a debate. Targeting the opposition, he said that whenever it loses an election, it blames the Election Commission.
Shah said that the BJP has formed governments several times in Gujarat, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. For the first time, a BJP Chief Minister has been elected in Bihar, and the party has formed a majority government in Odisha. Now it is Uttar Pradesh's turn.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi as 'Rahul Baba' and Akhilesh Yadav as 'Akhilesh Babu', Shah claimed that no other party would be able to form a government in Uttar Pradesh for the next 30 years, attributing his confidence to the continued support of the state's people for the BJP. He added that saffron was now visible across the country.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that Modi has become Prime Minister three times. If he continues to work at this pace, he will become Prime Minister for the fourth time as well.
Shah advised party workers that merely aspiring to high positions will not suffice; instead, they must work hard on the ground. He said, "Maybe we want to become MPs, but end up as District Panchayat members."
Shah said that electoral success depended on sustained grassroots efforts, urging party workers to intensify their public outreach and strengthen the organisation. Reiterating his confidence in the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, he said it was as firmly rooted as 'Angad's foot', which no one could dislodge.
The two-day BJP State Working Committee meeting, being held on October 30 and 31 at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow, was inaugurated by Amit Shah on Friday morning.
