Bengal: Two kirtan performers die after SUV rams into bus on NH-19

Durgapur, Oct 18 (UNI) Two devotional singers died and five others were critically injured in a 'horrific' road accident on the NH-19 close to Andal Morh, between Durgapur-Asansol stretch, today morning.
According to police, one SUV heading towards Barakar from Durgapur end suddenly rammed into the back of a stationary bus. The impact was so severe that the SUV was completely mangled.
Seven passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the mishap.
"Five critically injured were rescued and rushed to Durgapur Sub-Divisional Hospital. Two were declared dead on the spot", the police said.
An eyewitness said that the bus was parked on the highway shoulder when the white SUV crashed into it. The passengers, as the police gathered, were returning to Jharkhand after performing Kirtan.
Police have cordoned off the area as part of safety measure on the affected NH 19 stretch.
