Delhi Govt. to honour Anganwadi workers for taking services to children & women: CM

New Delhi, Sept 21 (UNI) The Rekha Gupta government is considering an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers, in a bid to give due recognition to their contribution and responsibilities.
According to Gupta, programmes to honour Anganwadi workers will be organised across all 70 Assembly constituencies of the national capital, starting September 23.
Under the ongoing ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,’ launched on the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi Government is set to organise ‘Aangan Ka Milan’, to honour the contribution of its Anganwadi workers who ensure several services, especially to the marginalised with regard to child welfare and development.
Chief Minister Gupta has said that Anganwadi workers play a crucial role at the grassroots level in taking government services to children, women and families, and their dedication and contribution deserve to be recognised, while honoring them is the government’s responsibility, she added.
Around 25,000 invitations are being sent out to ensure that more people can be connected with the initiative, she informed, adding that around 500 people are proposed to participate in each Assembly constituency.
Participants will include MLAs and other public representatives, beneficiaries, children, pregnant women, lactating women, parents, Anganwadi workers and helpers, creche workers and helpers, community representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
Gupta has also said that a special felicitation kit worth Rs 2,500 has also been prepared to for the Anganwadi workers, which includes a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and an umbrella.
During the Assembly-level programmes, the chief guest will present these kits to frontline workers associated with Anganwadi services.
The programmes being organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan have also been linked with the 9th National Nutrition Month 2026, CM said.
"Our endeavour is to ensure that the grassroot workers who help take government schemes and services to people also receive respect and support," Gupta added. UNI APS CDS
