Houthi missile strike hits Yemen's presidential Al-Maashiq Palace, kills two members of PM Zindani's security detail

Aden, Oct 15 (UNI) A Houthi missile attack on Yemen's presidential Al-Maashiq Palace in Aden killed two members of Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani's security detail, the country's internationally recognised government said on Thursday.
The Iran-backed Houthi militia claimed it had targeted an alleged Saudi military operations centre inside the compound. The Yemeni government said the prime minister and other officials were safe following the strike.
"Prime Minister Dr Shaya Al-Zandani and members of the government are safe following a missile attack by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on Al-Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden," the Ministry of Information said in a statement.
Aden serves as the de facto capital and seat of Yemen's internationally recognised government.
The Houthis said the attack formed part of their declared strategy of targeting Saudi military deployments wherever they were located.
"The shelling of the Saudi enemy's war operations headquarters in Aden comes within the framework of the declared equation of targeting Saudi military build-ups wherever they may be, and considering any military presence of the Saudi enemy a legitimate target for our forces," the group said.
The Yemeni government did not immediately provide further details about the missiles used or the extent of the damage to the palace complex.
The Houthis have also launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports, oil and gas facilities and military bases, describing them as retaliation for strikes on areas under their control in western Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa.
On Saturday, a Houthi missile attack on Riyadh's international airport killed 13 people, according to the report, marking the deadliest attack in Saudi Arabia in more than a decade.
Yemen's long-running civil war intensified again in July following the collapse of a truce that had lasted for several years. The Houthis subsequently launched a rapid offensive, seizing strategically important territory along the country's Red Sea coast.
The group has since then also stepped-up attacks on Saudi Arabia, which has led a military coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognised government since 2015.
Saudi retaliatory strikes and a counter-offensive by government forces have so far failed to reverse the Houthis' latest territorial gains, with the militia already controlling much of Yemen's most densely populated territories, including Sanaa.
