India played good game: Ancelotti

By Sirshendu Panth
Kolkata, Oct 3 (UNI) After an emphatic 4-0 win over India, in a FIFA International Friendly match here, Brazilian coach Carlo Ancelotti tonight praised the home side, saying they played a good game.
The 67-year-old gaffer said the Indians were organised and went on counter-attacks.
"They tried to play their game, they defended, they were organised, they tried to play counter-attack. I think they played a good game," Ancelotti said at the post-match media conference.
The Brazilians had some tough moments before opening the scoreline, but established better control of the game after that, said the 67-year old Italian, who took over as Brazil coach in May. 2025.
"We had difficulty to open the scoreline, but the moment we opened the scoreline with Estevão, we had more opportunity to control the game better " he said.
Ancelotti was asked about his experience of playing bedore the 51,000 plus crowd here who mostly supported India, but also applauded the goals scored by Brazil.
"We feel good. It was a good experience. I think it was a good game, entertaining, with good intensity and so India did its part to try to defend, play counter-attack and I think at the end it was a good game," he replied.
Ancelotti, who used the services of 22 players during the match, said he wanted to give opportunity to the youngsters.
"This game was a test. Now it's a moment for us to give an opportunity to the young players to be part of the squad, and for us to know if they have the quality to be part of the national team in the future and so it was a good test. Some players could do better, others did really well and so it was good for them.
"Of course it was not an exam but an opportunity to show quality. At the end of this period of these three games (two against Australia and one opposite India during the current trip) we are quite satisfied. I think we left this period with a good feeling because some of the players did very well, others could have done better."
He added: "It doesn't matter what level of game we play, it's important for us to prepare well for the game and try to do our best, taking into account all the conditions." UNI SSP SS
