India's three proposals for ending Ukraine conflict -- safety of Black Sea shipping, grain and energy exports, non-attack understandings

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) India has been holding "ongoing conversations" with both Russia and Ukraine towards resolving the Ukraine conflict, with New Delhi putting forth specific proposals including the safety of Black Sea shipping, keeping grain and energy exports flowing and “non-attack” possibilities.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, addressing a media briefing, said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had elaborated on the specific proposals during a recent talk.
"In so far as specifics are concerned, the External Affairs Minister recently elaborated on them. He noted that we are trying to be helpful, starting with the safety of shipping in the Black Sea, addressing immediate concerns of Russia and Ukraine on grain and energy exports, and non-attack possibilities. We have ongoing conversations with both Russia and Ukraine in this regard,” Jaiswal said.
He said that India has consistently maintained that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward with regard to ending the Ukraine conflict.
"Prime Minister has on multiple occasions expressed that this is not an era of war, and that solutions will not emerge from the battlefield.
"In Bishkek, during his meeting with President Putin, he noted that time has come for “endless war to give way to end of war”. In keeping with this idea to bring peace, India has engaged both sides. This has been appreciated by both Russia and Ukraine.
"You would have seen the comments made by President Putin and Foreign Minister Sybiha of Ukraine," the spokesperson said.
According to reports, India put forth the three-part peace framework -- on halting strikes on energy and critical infrastructure, protecting commercial shipping, and keeping the Black Sea route open for the movement of grain and energy -- during the visit of EAM Jaishankar to Kyiv where he discussed the proposals with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that Kyiv has received such a proposal from New Delhi, calling it the most comprehensive among four international initiatives aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Ukraine has also received possible ceasefire proposals from Turkey, Egypt and the United States.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "has excellent ideas aimed at finding mutually acceptable...solutions" to end the war with Ukraine.
He also appreciated PM Modi for maintaining a neutral position while being committed to ending the conflict.
